Scepter 20L (5-gallon) water cans have been used by our military for many decades. Durable for tough conditions and long use. The optional cap wrench and spigot are nice additions.

Durable, Light, Quality

Received my 20L tank and immediately took it on a 4 day van trip. I cleaned it out with a baking soda and vinegar solution and let it dry out over night before filling. No plastic taste. The carry handle is rock solid. The blue color is worth the extra money to identify water. The lid is robust. I'm going to purchase the lid wrench after not having it for a few days, and I feel like it will be a great item to have when using this tank for full time camper van life. You can lean into these and tighten them up by hand to ensure no leaks. It's removing them that the wrench will help the majority of people. I'm ordering one. The spout cap and vent are secure whilst a little stiff and tough on fingers if tightened down. Sometimes difficult to release with fingers but a simple bandana solves that. The wide lid doesn't leak, the spout cap doesn't leak, but playing with the vent I can get water to leak out from the weep hole. Not a drip, a leak. This has been inconsistent and I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I need to play with it more. 20L is a manageable capacity. It may be too heavy for some. I bought the 20L as my big potable water tank for my van. I went with Scepter for health and safety reasons. I don't plan on primarily drinking from the 20L (which it is safe to do so) but still wanted a safe container to drink from. Plastic made sense for my big tank. I think the smaller 10L tank would be a great size for many applications. If you think a full 20L is too heavy, buy two 10L's. Because I live in a van, I wanted to maximize space efficiency and thus a single 20L tank. I don't absolutely need one, but I may pick up a 10L in the future if I have a need for some extra capacity. There are tons of DIY lid options out there. I decided to just buy the Scepter screw on spout and it worked great. It's quality, doesn't leak, and has good flow control. It's robust. If the 3/4" NPT adapter was in stock at the time I bought my container I would have picked one up as I'll likely move away from the Scepter spout in the future just to something that fits my needs better. I may install a 12volt water pump at some point. These water tanks are robust, quality, safe, and expensive. Compared to alternatives, I feel it is definitely double the quality and hence double the price. I went base camping with 3 full time van lifers on this past trip and they all used my Scepter and were sold on replacing their Reliance products with one. Like me, they were hesitant to purchase before getting their hands on one. It's a solid container. If you're going to drop the money, go all in. Buy a container, a wrench, a spout, and a NPT adapter. You'll be set for 15+ years with the best water container on the market. When you decide to do a custom lid with the NPT adapter, you'll have the spout as a backup or secondary option when you inevitable get a 10L. A 20L+ 10L is a pretty slick setup. Shipping arrived in two days to New Hampshire.

These are very strong and do not leak. This is my second batch. Only problem is 20L is heavy. I like to have both the 20L and 10L. Also I will pay extra for blue that anyone can see is water.

This seems like a great container for water. Big opening so I can stick my arm inside to clean it. The shape makes it easier to store and carry than the round bottles. The handle is handy. I would recommend it. Everything about it seems high quality.
